Danguard Ace Sky Arrow

This is a new addtion to my collection, just recently won on eBay.

If memory serves me right, the Sky Arrow is the training/support aircraft used quite extensively (or rather exclusively) during the first part of the Danguard Ace anime. While Danguard Ace remains one of my favorite animes, I remember being very frustrated when watching the show - Why you ask? - That's because in the opening and ending theme, you can clearly see that the show has a really cool robot (Danguard Ace) that can do all kinds of cool things like transforming from this huge aircraft into the giant robot, etc. Yet, for the first 1/4 to 1/3 of the story (easily 15-16 episodes or 4 months), you don't get to see Danguard Ace in action because our hero (forgot his name, but let's call him Redfield) has to train to be a good pilot. And what he trained on was the Sky Arrow.

Apparently this chogokin toy was released back in 80's or 90's in North America and received a rather lukewarm reception. Anyway, this vintage one I got still has a fairly good paint job on the main body. The missiles are missing and the center rear fin is loose, with some yellowing in the plastic - which means it's a prime candidate for a restoration project that I will take on soon.

Just like the Danguard Ace, the aircraft can be separated into two units. Although not pictured, the second cockpit (the red part with the clear windshield) can actually swing forward to where the mini fighter used to be. Also the covers on the wings can flip up to reveal the blades underneath.

All in all, it's a very good toy and I intend to spend some time restoring it and adding some details.
